Sara Hamill is responsible for overseeing EEA’s commercial, retail, and senior living markets.
She manages a team of 15+ people who have together designed more than 1,000 retail stores across national retailers like GAP, Inc., H&M, William-Sonoma, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta, Coldwater Creek, West Elm, Quicksilver, Fossil, and Pottery Barn. Chances are when you step inside one of these retail giant’s stores, in one of the 50 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, or Canada, you’ll be experiencing the design work of Sara’s team. For national brands such as the Gap suite of brands, Sara engineers the prototype designs that are then used by EEA and many other engineers to design tenant finish out projects across North America. Her team also designs office buildings, tenant finish outs, senior living facilities, and hospitality buildings.
Sara came to work for EEA a year or so after college graduation. In the past decade-plus, she has managed retail retrofit and new construction projects, while also working on the electrical power and lighting design, including NEC load calculations, energy calculations, and lighting controls. Sara has worked on commercial office projects for the likes of HomeAway, and has also engineered historic building projects, mid-rise buildings, spas, tech data centers, office parks boasting 250k+ sq. ft., and apartment buildings and condominiums. She’s helped public schools, churches and chapels, and even military installations.
Sara received her Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2004. Sara maintains an active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas, but is also registered to practice in almost half of the country (Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, and Washington). Additionally, she is certified as an Accredited Professional by the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED AP). Outside of work, Sara enjoys time with her husband and young children as well as family dinners together.
