EEA Consulting Engineers teamed up with Texas Engineering Solutions (TES) to craft a design plan using canned food for the “Fighting an Incredible Hunger” CANstruction structure April 28. It was on display for all to marvel at while shopping at Barton Creek Square Mall until May 12.
All canned foods used plus additional donations will go directly to support the efforts of the Central Texas Food Bank in their work to “help the hungry in the community,” according to their website.
EEA’s and TES’ “Fighting an Incredible Hunger” structure consisted of 3,509 cans of food with an additional 364 donated separately for a total of 3,873 canned food items donated.
EEA and TES won the Best Meal Award for having the most nutritious meals. “We included a lot of ravioli and nutritious Albacore and Tongol tuna, items the food bank doesn’t receive much of,” EEA Marketing Manager Lacey Proffitt said.
OneCanATX, the Austin chapter of CANstruction, is a hunger awareness event that takes place in more than 100 cities across the United States and Canada. For more information please visit their website here.
There were also a great number of Incredible sponsors that together donated $5,921, EEA’s CANstruction team captain Javier Zapata said.
